Union Minister Amit Shah has stepped down from his post as the head of the Gujarat cricket association on Saturday. Shah had taken over the role of the president way back in 2014 when then-president Narendra Modi had stepped down after being elected as the Prime Minister of the country.

The Gujarat Cricket Association is expected to make an official statement regarding the matter by the end of the day, however, according to a report on the Times of India, it is unlikely that a new president would be elected in the immediate future. Shah’s resignation is, however, unlikely to affect his son Jay, who holds the position of secretary within the GCA.

This news is followed by another similar news that saw Parimal Nathwani, who held the post of the vice president of the GCA, stepping down from his post. He was replaced by his son Dhanraj. Nathwani was forced to step down from his post because of the newly updated Lodha reforms.

Nathwani, under Shah’s administration, was responsible for the development of the state of the art Sardar Patel stadium, which was developed under the Motera Project. Shah's tenure also saw the state team reaching new heights under the leadership of Parthiv Patel.
