VIDEO | Quinton de Kock takes one-handed stunner in the air to send Virat Kohli packing

Quinton de Kock’s ability is already on the pages of South Africa’s cricket history and his dive to dismiss Virat Kohli could well take a paragraph in it. From the mechanics, it looked stunning as he dived to his left, almost to slip, and then the leap was sufficient to grab a stunning catch.

While South African batsmen struggled on the face of some Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, and Yuzvendra Chahal magic, Indian batsmen also had to endure a similar fate in the run chase. The openers were clearly struggling to face Kagiso Rabada and Chris Morris, but surprisingly, even when Virat Kohli couldn’t get away from that.

The struggle was real and that became even more evident when Kohli failed to get bat against outside the off stump deliveries and his dismissal became just a matter of time. Andile Phehlukwayo sensed that and bowled a back of length delivery by imparting extra bounce on it. The Indian skipper tried to steer the ball to third man but he failed to control himself while going for the shot.

That resulted in the ball taking an outside edge and flew right of the wicket-keeper. It was, in all honesty, a catch for the first slip Hashim Amla, but Quinton de Kock flew to his right to dive in the air and extended his hand in such a way that he would be able to catch the delivery without any support from Amla.
