The age-old game of cricket has seen many such instances that have left fielders, batsmen and umpire dumbfounded and in rolling in laughter. Monday’s game between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad saw one such instance as Umesh Yadav’s delivery left his hand early to go sky high.
RCB started their must-win game on a brilliant note, by sending the likes of Alex Hales, Shikhar Dhawan, and Manish Pandey all by the ninth over. SRH could manage just 50 runs by then with Shakib-al-Hasan coming to the crease alongside a set Kane Williamson.
Virat Kohli knew that the skipper could create problems later as SRH have a reputation of chasing the lowest of targets and RCB wanted to get rid of him as fast as possible. Hence, when the Kiwi-Bangladeshi duo’s partnership started blooming, he decided to bring back his strike bowlers. The desperation was seen in the move and Yadav’s experiment didn’t go as plan in the 14th over as Williamson hit him for a six and a boundary.
The incident happened in the 16th over when he was brought again to break the partnership that has consolidated into 57 runs by then. And after Williamson hit him for a boundary on the third ball, Yadav bowled possibly the weirdest ball of the season. He lost his grip during the swinging of his hand with the ball lobbing high up in the air, outside the cut strip.
Kohli, who was standing at the boundary line, cracked up while Williamson saw seen immensely confused whether to hit the ball or not, as it bounced and rolled away.
