Mohammed Shami unavailable for fourth Test

Mohammed Shami has been ruled out of the fourth Test against Australia starting on Saturday as he's still being monitored by physio Patrick Farhart, who said that the medium-pacer was with the team in Ranchi as well and playing him in the Vijay Hazare final was a part of his rehabilitation plan.

Shami had raised hopes of his Test return after he posted a picture from Dharamsala on social media shortly after the team's arrival in the city, and skipper Virat Kohli had previously hinted at his possible inclusion.

The pacer had sustained an injury during the England Test series late last year. He put in a fine performance in the final of the Vijay Hazare trophy.

However, Indian physio Farhart has revealed that Shami has not been picked in the final 15 man squad for the last Test. An unnamed source told PTI that Shami was with the squad for the Ranchi Test as well.

"Shami was with the team in Ranchi also as Farhart is monitoring his progress. He was not named in the squad of 15 for the final Test. Sending him to play Vijay Hazare final was a part of that extensive rehabilitation plan,” the source was quoted as saying.
