Watch: MS Dhoni turns fast bowler in the nets ahead of first ODI

Enjoying his time away from captaincy, MS Dhoni has taken up the role of a pace bowler during India's net practice on Friday ahead of the first ODI tomorrow. In a video posted by the BCCI, Dhoni tests Manish Pandey with his pace and bounce and clips his stumps with his third attempt.

We have previously seen MS Dhoni put aside his wicket-keeping gloves to try his luck at bowling in the international arena. The former India skipper also has an ODI wicket to his name when he took the wicket of Travis Dowlin of West Indies in the 2009 Champions Trophy match. Many of us also remember him bowling few overs in a Test match against England back in 2011 while Rahul Dravid kept the wickets.

After years away from the other side of the stumps, Dhoni seems to be enjoying his new freedom away from captaincy and decided to free his arms by bowling a few deliveries in the nets to Manish Pandey. Though we know that Dhoni can generate enough pace, it is surprising to see the amount of bounce and accuracy in his bowling. Pandey plays the first two easily, but Dhoni goes through the batsman's defence with his third and celebrates by punching the air.
