The Indian cricket board has reportedly put on hold Zaheer Khan’s appointment as bowling coach after the former India speedster demanded Rs 4 crore as payment for 100 days of work a year and expressed his unavailability on a full-time basis.

“The process to involve Zaheer was to have his services over a long period. It was turning out to be an expensive deal, and BCCI lost interest in hiring him. Zaheer also has a few things lined up and he can't be a full-time coach right now," an unnamed BCCI source told the Times of India.

The team management is looking for an experienced fast bowler as coach to guide the Indian seamers, and the report said head coach Anil Kumble had approved Zaheer’s appointment

Zaheer took 311 Test wickets, 282 ODI wickets and 17 T20I wickets in an international career spanning 14 years.
