Many of MS Dhoni's followers have taken offence to Ravichandran Ashwin not thanking Dhoni after he was announced as the ICC Cricketer of the Year on Thursday. While it is understandable that MS Dhoni played a major part of his development, fans criticising Ashwin seemed a bit too harsh.

In the world of social media, there is no topic free of offence as the culture of nitpicking every other post of a celebrity has become a common thing. And Ravichandran Ashwin, who is very sharp with his social media activity with witty replies to his haters, was bombarded with harsh words when he put up a tweet to thank all the people who contributed to his successful year.

After being announced as the ICC Cricketer of the Year on Thursday, the 31-year old thanked his wife Prithi Ashwin, India's strength and conditioning coach Shankar Basu, coach Anil Kumble and Test skipper Virat Kohli for their help.

But forgetting to include MS Dhoni offended many of the ODI skipper's followers, who had much to say in reply. And one of Dhoni's fans went on a tirade to criticize Ashwin for not thanking his CSK captain.

Agreed, that Dhoni was a major part of Ashwin's development, but some people seem to be offended just by the absence of his name.

There might have been many others whom Ashwin wanted to thank for his stellar performances, but these people forget that he is human and Twitter has only 160 characters for one post.

nor demanding u too acknowledge. But as a MSD fan a bit disappointed on u. Forgetting sme1s work is often really easy.

Even Dhoni would have been happy for Ashwin, but his fans looking at the all-rounder as ungrateful shows the negative side of social media.
