BCCI to discuss Shastri-Wankhede curator spat

Indian cricket team director Ravi Shastri’s spat with curator Sudhir Naik following the team’s 214-run massacre in the fifth and final One-Dayer by South Africa in Mumbai on Sunday is to be discussed by the Indian cricket board (BCCI).
BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur said the Standard Operating Procedure will be followed, as was done when Virat Kohli abused a journalist of a leading national daily in Perth during the World Cup earlier this year.
“We will look into the details of Team Director allegedly confronting curator of Wankhede Stadium … We had done the same in (sic) Australia (without referring to the incident). Same yardstick will be applied," Thakur was quoted by PTI news agency.
Shastri reportedly was unhappy with the flat track provided by former India opener and state-mate Naik, and expressed his displeasure to the curator. The team director allegedly used some harsh words and Naik also reacted sharply.
Meanwhile, the Mumbai Cricket Association managing committee is to also take up Naik’s complaint of verbal abuse by Shastri.
The 3-2 series victory was South Africa’s first bilateral ODI series success on Indian soil in five attempts. The tourists posted the joint third highest-ever ODI total of 438-4 after opting to bat first. The margin of defeat was India’s biggest.
